STEP 1: STRENGTH TRAINING EXPLAINED
NOTES:
Be sure to warm up before your workouts. This is not tracked in your program but it is essential. Body weight workouts or doing a lighter set of the exercise in your workout is an excellent way to warm up. This walkout HERE is also one of my favourites for warm ups as it's a full body exercise. 10-15 of these will likely have you warm:
All exercises need to be completed with good form. Once you can not hold the form stop that exercise.
Never workout through pain. Seek professional advice always.
Progressive Overload: 1. Add a heavier weight. 2. Slow down the exercise. 3. Add repetitions. 4. Add a set.
Practicse week allows you to become familiar with tracking and how workouts are programmed. This is already a workout however your official 6 week program beings the following week. Practise week is not a throw away week. It's important to do the workout. We begin with body weight to give you time to find equipment. If you have weights you can add them where appropriate.
Top Tips:
1. Slow down the exercise. Pay attention to the tempo. Go a little slower than you think you should.
2. Go lower than you think you can – push for that extra inch or two
3. Use a mirror. What we see and what we feel are often two different things.
4. Engage your full body not simply the main muscles you are working in that exercise.
5. No pretty numbers. Look for patterns. If your reps are all even ask yourself if you are truly pushing yourself hard enough
STEP 2: PLANNING THE WEEK & TRACKING IN THE APP ( you may need to wait until the first Sunday is here to access workouts)
** not mentioned in the video. There are reminders in the program however when you see AMRAP for reps this stands for As Many Reps As Possible. (Do as many as you can will good form)
